Meal Sponsorship
By becoming a meal sponsor, you will help provide 16,200 free, nutritious meals a year for the neighborhood's most nutritionally-vulnerable residents as well as employment with job training and life skills support for DTES community members.
Your sponsorship will symbolize your support of Potluck's right-to-food philosophy that every person has a human right to affordable, healthy food.
Your donation will help ensure that 100 neighborhood residents challenged by material poverty, mental illness, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and addictions will have access to fresh, well-balanced meals that are served in a dignified environment.
The cost of producing each meal is $5. This includes the cost of fresh ingredients as well as the ability to provide community staff members who prepare and serve the meals with employment, job training, and life skills support.
Our meal program contributes to the economic development of the neighborhood by employing residents rather than functioning under the traditional volunteer-based charitable meal program model.
Suggested Meal Sponsorships:
$500 = 100 meals
$1000 = 200 meals
$3000 = 600 meals
$6000 = 1,200 meals
$10,000 = 2,000 meals
Meal sponsors can be anyone from individuals and groups of friends to companies, non-profits or associations. Some corporations may have community or employee giving programs that can help fund meal sponsorships. As a meal sponsor, you are welcome but not required to volunteer to serve the meals that you have sponsored.
