Potluck Meal Program
Potluck prepares and serves 16,200 free, nutritious meals annually for the neighborhood's most nutritionally-vulnerable residents, including individuals living below the poverty level with chronic illness, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, and mental illness.
Potluck is committed to providing individuals with fresh, well-balanced, healthy meals in a dignified environment. Our meals are delivered to residents or served in the Potluck Café where community members are welcome to sit and enjoy their meals.
The cost of producing each meal is $5. This includes the cost of fresh, nutritious ingredients and the ability to provide jobs with training and life skills support for neighbourhood residents that produce and serve the meals. Our program contributes to the economic development of the DTES by employing residents rather than functioning under the traditional charitable meal program model dependent upon volunteers.
