The Potluck Café Society invites you to 'Make a Difference, One Meal at a Time...'
The Potluck Café Society is a highly acclaimed social enterprise and registered charity operating in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. From its warm and charming Café centrally located at 30 West Hastings in the heart of the DTES, Potluck prepares and serves over 30,000 nutritious meals per year to the most needy members of our community.
Potluck Volunteer Meal Program Overview
Potluck is inviting organizations to participate in a unique and inspiring Volunteer Meal Program at the Potluck Café. This is a hands on, team building experience where your staff directly serve nutritious meals to those who are marginalized in our community in a warm and friendly, neighborhood Café.
The program lets you give back in 2 ways: By helping us through the team of people you send to serve meals, and also helping us offset the cost of running the program with your financial contribution for each meal served by your staff. The experience is rewarding for both your people and organization, letting you make a positive and direct impact in the community. Furthermore, participation is simple. Your organization simply sends a team of 2 to 4 staff members to the Potluck Café between 2 pm and 4:30 pm on your designated day, Monday through Friday, to serve our afternoon resident meal to up to 110 residents of the DTES. For each meal that your organization serves, a $500 contribution to Potluck helps offset the expense of preparing each of those meals for area residents.
We believe this program is a win/win for everyone involved. Our partner Shaw Cablesystems has chosen to send a team of 2 to 4 Shaw staff to the Potluck Café twice per month over a one year period. The management team at Shaw is highly committed and supportive, encouraging staff to sign up as part of their regular paid workday. Potluck is proud of the commitment shown by Shaw for this program and is open to tailoring a suitable program for your organization.
